Clark Renfort
Clark Renfort is a northern California artist who has been designing hardwood lamps for years. His original designs combine Art Nouveau and other classic influences, with contemporary elements in a manner that blends with virtually any decor.
He creates each lamp by turning the main body on the lathe. Depending on the design, carved pieces are bent around the lamps by steaming them. Sometimes a ring of wood is floating, entwined by the tendrils on the piece.
A one inch brass inlay at the top of the lamp serves as the touch switch dividing the wattage into thirds, providing the versatility of a three way bulb. The lamps use any normal incandescent bulb. We recommend 200 watts, and two 100 watt bulbs for the reading lamps (300 watts is the maximum). Each lamp is signed and dated.
Clark makes shades by slumping glass in a kiln at 1150 degrees F, sometimes manipulating the glass to get different designs. The shades are then sandblasted to give them a softer, frosted finish.
The lamps are available in a torchier e style with the upturned shade, or a reading lamp. Walnut, Cherry, Mahogany, and Maple are the four woods generally available. Other woods and dimensions must be special ordered.
Mr. Renfort started turning as a teenager, and began designing lighting in 1980. His current lamps have been in development since 1984, and are always evolving whilst keeping quality and integrity paramount.
